ABOUT THE EVENT

Technology is amplifying gender-based violence at unprecedented scale. Seventy per cent of women human rights defenders, activists, journalists and media workers have experienced technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV) in the course of their work. Women parliamentarians are increasingly targeted too. AI-generated child sexual abuse material increased by 26,385 per cent from 2024 to 2025, with girls comprising 97 per cent of those depicted. The harm does not stay online. TFGBV silences women's voices, pushes women out of public life and leads to physical and sexual violence, with consequences for economies, public health and democracy.

Hosted by All In: Global Leaders for Ending Gender-Based Violence, this workshop brings together leaders from government, parliaments and the private sector to explore what courageous leadership looks like in preventing TFGBV. The discussion is framed by All In's recent thematic report, Safer Tech, Safer World, which calls on governments to mandate a duty of care requiring the technology sector to build safety into digital products from the outset, rather than as an afterthought. While governments and parliaments set the standards, every sector has a role to play to ensure safety online, particularly technology companies and the wider private sector.

In the spirit of this year's Forum theme, the workshop will focus on collective and courageous action across sectors. Participants will exchange what is working in different jurisdictions, explore the distinct levers held by parliamentarians, government leaders and private sector leaders, and identify practical steps to turn commitment into action.
