ABOUT THE EVENT
A Future-Focused Agenda for Transformative Peace: As generational gains in women’s rights hang in the balance around the world, so too does the transformative potential of the women, peace and security agenda. Rather than simply revisiting the past or dwelling only on the present, women are well positioned to imagine and shape the future. How that future is framed matters. It will influence the politics of the present and determine how effectively we inspire action toward a more just, peaceful and rights-based future. We must therefore rethink women’s political leadership for peace particularly in moments of transition, expand their reach and equip their leadership to meet the scale of today’s challenges.
Objectives of the Strategic Dialogue
This strategic dialogue will explore how a global community committed to a just and equitable future can advance an alternative vision of transformative peace that places gender equality and women’s political leadership at its centre.
The dialogue aims to catalyse a future-focused, women-led partnership that will:
deepen political support for women’s leadership in peace initiatives and during
transitions;
address power imbalances in global governance;
advance a framework of repair and regeneration; and
generate actionable ideas and recommendations that can enrich women-led peace and security conversations across key forums.
Held as a closed-door conversation, the dialogue will draw on collective insights and expertise to address pressing challenges and translate shared ambition into transformative action.
