Visit to Althingi - The Oldest Parliament In The World

Each year, the Speaker of the Alþingi invites Reykjavík Global Forum guests to visit the world's oldest parliament. Founded in 930 at Þingvellir, Alþingi has sat in its current building on Austurvöllur square since 1881, making it one of the longest-running democratic institutions in the world. The visit gives conversationists a rare, guided tour inside this historic building, offering context on Iceland's political history.
