ABOUT THE EVENT

The global care crisis is no longer a debate happening at the margins. The pandemic pulled governments, development banks, multilateral institutions, and the private sector into conversations once left to feminist advocates, and care has gained momentum as an economic story. But as the care conversation moves into fiscal and policy spaces, it risks being framed too narrowly: as a jobs metric, a workforce participation figure, or a budget line. Without deliberately connecting the economic and feminist lenses, scaling care risks reinforcing the very inequalities it aims to address.

This two-hour workshop, convened by Kinaura Partners, will bring together economists, gender equality advocates, philanthropists, private sector stakeholders, and civil society from the Global South and Global North to surface where care investments drive impact and where they require more systemic shifts, and identify who holds the power to drive progress. Participants will hear from leaders with direct experience translating care access into workforce, leadership, and development outcomes, and will leave with a shared analytical framework and a concrete picture of what coordinated action across sectors and geographies can produce. The question is no longer whether to invest in care. It is how, and who gets to shape the answer.
