Workshop hosted by Women Transforming Global Security

WTGS is an initiative that represents an unprecedented collaboration between The Elders, Ploughshares, and Horizon 2045 organizations united in their commitment to women's leadership and breakthrough thinking at the intersection of global challenges.

Nuclear contamination, ancient pathogens, climate change, Indigenous sovereignty, military competition, and a governance vacuum are converging in one place: the Arctic. Drawing on systems analysis and other methods, we will descend from the visible facts of the case to the institutional patterns, structural gaps, and unexamined assumptions that produced them, tracing how decisions made six decades ago, and risks nobody planned for, created liabilities that no current institution is designed to manage. From there, we will review governance opportunities identified by the Women Transforming Global Security (WTGS) network and explore opportunities to pilot WTGS’s Integrated Security framework.
