ABOUT THE EVENT

You have opinions. You have ideas. You may even know exactly what needs to be said. What’s harder is figuring out how to turn that into an op-ed that is clear, persuasive, and publishable.

This workshop is designed for women who want to do exactly that. It breaks down op-ed writing into a skill you can learn, practice, and strengthen. You’ll learn how to shape your ideas into a focused argument, structure a piece that lands, and better understand what makes an editor pay attention.

If you have something to say but are not sure how to say it on the page, this workshop is for you.

Hosted for RGF by:

Elmira Bayrasli, the founder and editor-in-chief of Interruptrr, a weekly newsletter that highlights female expertise. She is the author of From the Other Side of the World: Extraordinary Entrepreneurs, Unlikely Places, a book that looks at the rise of entrepreneurship globally. She has lived in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina where she was the Chief Spokesperson for the OSCE Mission. From 1994-2000 she was presidential appointee at the U.S. State Department, working for Madeleine Albright and Richard Holbrooke, respectively. She has taught writing, foreign policy, and media at New York University and Bard College, and has worked for years with women seeking to strengthen their public voice and authority. She has also led writing and op-ed workshops for institutions including the Council on Foreign Relations, the Pacific Council, West Point, and the Open Society Foundations.
